Step-by-Step Instruction
Step 1: Choose the type of barcode or document that you are scanning
There are 2 options:
- Scan License will allow you to scan driver licenses or other government-issued IDs with a 2D barcode.
- Scan Passport will allow you to scan passports and other government-issued IDs with an MRZ barcode.
Step 2: Select the type of scan
You can choose to scan an ID as...
- Prospect - a person who is shopping for an apartment.
- Move-In - a person who is moving into your community and is receiving the keys/access to the apartment unit and community.
- Lock Out - a resident is locked out of the apartment and needs assistance with re-entry.
- Vendor - a third party person or company gaining access to a unit.
- Tour Guest - a person who accompanies your prospects without the intention of renting at your community. WARNING: Only use this option if your company requires you to scan IDs of all individuals on tour.
- Waiting List - a prospect waiting for unit availability.
Step 3: Select the leasing agent's name who is scanning the IDs
Step 4: Hover the ID over the iPad's camera until the scan is complete
Make sure the barcode is completely included in the camera screen.
Hint: Passports can be trickier to scan due to the reflective film on the surface of the ID. If a passport does not scan, make sure the page is free of reflections as it appears on camera and slowly adjust the passport position in and out to clearly capture the MRZ barcode.
Step 5: Complete scanning
You should see whether the ID pass or fail the verification.
If an ID passes, make sure to double check the information of the ID against that on the iPad. Note that you must hit "Complete Scan" at the end of each scan so that the scan information is logged properly into your report!
If an ID fails, see what to do when receiving fail verification results.
